Born in Seoul, South Korea, Dr. Hyejin Pak began playing the piano at the age of five. She attended Sunhwa Arts Middle and High Schools, and having received the scholarship of excellence, graduated from Ewha Womans University, with her Bachelor of Music. She received her Master’s degree and Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance in 2019, from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati studying with Mr. Awadagin Pratt.
Dr. Pak made her orchestral debut at the age of 12, performing the Mozart Piano Concerto K. 488 with the Korean Philharmonic Orchestra. She was also a featured soloist with Romanian National Radio Chamber Orchestra. She has made solo appearances in concert venues throughout United States and South Korea including Chicago Symphony Center (IL), Avram Theater at Stony Brook, South Hampton Cultural Center (NY), Corbett Auditorium, Robert J. Werner Hall, Watson Hall, Cohen Family Studio Theater (OH), Centennial Memorial Hall at Yonsei University, Mozart Hall, and Youngsan Art Hall (Seoul). During the 2019-2020 season she will perform a recital tour in Canada including Müzewest in Vancouver, Music at Queens in New Westminster, and Nelson Overture Concert Society in Nelson in addition to other performances in the US.
She has been a top prize-winner of several international piano competitions, including the Vancouver International Music Competition, Manhattan International Music Competition, Korean Philharmonic Orchestra Competition, Music Educational Journal Competition, Korean Music Competition, Hyupsung University Competition, and more. She has participated in many international music festivals including Pianofest in the Hamptons, the Art of the Piano, the Seoul International Music Festival, and the Seorak Music Academy.
In her spare time she enjoys traveling, watching movies, and yoga.
